This unassuming species is one of the most unique in the genus. Its stems reach 4" tall and clusters readily in cultivation. The plant body is divided into long, very pronounced nipple-like tubercules. Radial spines awl-like and spreading. Spines and wool sparsely distributed. Relatively easy to grow in cultivation. Flowers are lemon yellow.
